On 4 May 2013, the VBMA had a Spring Fundraiser for our Hathaway Chapel project. We had many partners for this event. This event was hosted by Kamlu Retirement Inn, of Vancouver. They provided a great venue for the event, in their large dining room. They also provided light refreshment.
The Vancouver Community Concert Band provided entertainment for our patrons. They played several 'sets' of music, beginning with several patriotic compositions as well as slow Dixieland Music as a finale'.
The Lewis and Clark Young Marines supported us in many ways. They helped open the ceremony by 'posting the colors'. They also performed a moving reenactment of the Marines placing the United States flag on the highest peak on Iwo Jima, in World War 2. They also helped in our charity raffle, by displaying prize items and winning raffle tickets.
