100 Year Anniversary, World War I
On 26 June 1917, the first U.S. troops landed at St. Nazaire, France.  It would be several months before U.S. soldiers would reach the front lines in France.

100 Year Anniversary, World War I
On 21 October  1917, the first U.S. troops arrive at the front lines in France.  Elements of the 1st Infantry Division assigned to the Luneville Sector, near Nancy, France.

 

100 Year Anniversary, World War I
On 23 October  1917, Corporal Robert Bralet of the 6th Artillery takes the first shot across the lines, when he fired a 75mm gun at a German Trench.

100 Year Anniversary, World War I
On 2 November  1917, Corporal James Gresham, and privates Thomas Enright, and Merle Hay of the 16th Infantry become the first U.S. combat casualties in World War I.  They were killed near Bathelemont, France, when the Germans raided their positions.
